Norco Bikes - Designed in Canada, Ridden Worldwide
No longer an insider only niche brand, Canadian bike company Norco now sit as one of the most popular offroad bike brands. Especially in the mountain bike scene, Canada's number 1 bicycle brand has almost achieved cult status and was also one of the first manufacturers to offer suspension forks on bikes so that they could really go off-road. It all started way back in 1964, when Norco founder Bert Lewis set himself the humble task of building better bicycles in a converted chicken coop. Norco was certainly not the plan for Northern Cycle Industries to become a world-renowned bicycle brand, but the cycling world is certainly better off for its involvement.
Technologies and Innovations
Technological innovations are an important goal for the development of bicycle manufacturers. Norco bikes are created through constant design and innovation, and the brand's long history, and high level of expertise has enabled the development of a wide range of features.
Gravity Tune
The Gravity Tune System optimises the geometry of Norco mountain bikes to allow all riders, regardless of their size, a balanced ride. By using a fixed ratio based on the wheelbase across all frame sizes, Norco's Gravity Tune system ensures that the rider's weight is always optimally distributed over the bike.
ARC
This technology stands for Applied Ride Compliance and is built into Norco road bikes. There is an ARC Endurance and an ARC Race, both with specially optimized compliance. The ARC Race has a stiffer frame that puts more emphasis on power transfer, while the endurance versions with ARC frames offer more stability and comfort for longer rides.
MTB and BMX Pioneers
As early as 1984, Norco Bikes began developing and manufacturing mountain bikes, at that time without a suspension fork but with a particularly stable and flexible frame. Seven years later followed with the legendary Rampage, North America's first modern hardtail, and three years later the FTS dual suspension bike. Norco was also active early on in the booming BMX scene and supported young talents with its bikes. In 1973 the Canadian brand introduced the first full suspension BMX in Canada and in 1980 founded its first Factory BMX team, which dominated the scene in the following years. As a pioneer of MTB and BMX, dirt was ingrained in their DNA, and Norco produced two of the first Street & Dirt Jump specific bikes in 2001. Numerous successes followed, especially in the areas of dirt jump, downhill and enduro. But the Norco bikes were also able to prove themselves in road racing.
While the primary focus is on the mountain bike sector, the brand also has a wide range of models for all riding styles. These include E-Bikes, Gravel Bikes, Kids Bikes, Urban Bikes and more!
Popular mountain bike models from Norco are:
