Louis Garneau
Named after the company’s president and founder Louis Garneau makes clothing, helmets, shoes and cleats for cyclists, and has been doing so for 25 years.
The man himself, Louis began his career in the cycling industry racing bikes on the road and the track, winning over 150 races in his career and going on to win the Canadian Championship in the Individual Pursuit.
But in 1983, Louis and his wife Monique Arsenault turned their attention to the needs of the cycling community at home in Canada when they began working on the development of high performance cycling apparel out of Louis’s father’s garage.
In just over a year they had moved to a larger premises and employed five staff. Four years later, the business was situated in a 32,000 square foot building, employing 118 staff. That same year, Louis Garneau began manufacturing cycling helmets, the original predecessors to the helmets worn by pro tour riders today.

Louis Garneau Helmets
In 1988, Louis Garneau created their first cycling helmet, a design that would go on to help define the company as a world leader in protective apparel. By 2002, helmet design and research into aerodynamics had come a very long way. Louis Garneau was the first company to hit the world cycling market with a legal super-aero TT helmet, designed to shave seconds off a rider’s time racing in TT events at the highest level.
Helmets today, are tested and constructed to meet international regulations, so you can ride comfortably knowing that your dome is in good hands.
